Effective Cat and Dog Cancer Treatments

Once we form a complete understanding of your cat or dog’s cancer, Dr. Upton and her staff will develop a treatment plan. This may include:

  • Surgery – to remove any tumors or to explore how the cancer has spread
  • Chemotherapy – similar to human medicine, chemotherapy involves potent medication that attacks cancer cells, as well as healthy cells in the process. However, it’s important to note that side effects from chemo are often much less severe in our pets than they are in people.
  • Immunotherapy – for some types of cancer, immunotherapy is an option. This treatment involves the activation of your pet’s own immune system to fight cancer off on its own. Side effects from this treatment are often minimal or non-existent.
